As the main mod Ex Nihilo is hard to figure out without reading the wiki and is essentials there are quite a lot of quests about it which help you to get started without a lot of headache. The special thing about the Ex Nihilo mod is that you can do everything from just one sapling and dirt block. So you start with like nothing and can end up with a 24/7 automated system which does everything for you and you can just sit relaxed and watch it do all the stuff for you. But in order to make this modpack harder there is the nether with infernal mobs which can kill you with just one hit. So be very careful and think twice about entering the nether, is it really worth it?
